Mortise & Tenon Jig Bits and Guides

Leigh offers a complete selection of High Speed Steel or Solid Carbide router bits for the FMT Pro and Super FMT Mortise & Tenon Jigs. Four guide sets and their matching four bits produce 21 joint sizes. The complete set of eight bits and 21 guides allows you to rout limitless sizes of precisely fitted joints.

The spiral upcut design of FMT Pro and Super FMT bits routs cleaner, faster and leaves a smoother finish. Although Solid Carbide and High Speed Steel bits produce excellent results, Solid Carbide bits are stiffer and hold a keen edge longer than the HSS. The performance of the less expensive HSS bits is comparable to Solid Carbide but they lose their edge more quickly. Leigh 2 flute spiral upcut bits are Made In America.

All bits with a cutting diameter greater than 1/4" are made with 1/2" shanks. The extra stiffness reduces vibration and chatter. The 1/4" Louver bit also has a 1/2" shank because of the added forces with cross grain routing. Bits with a cutting diameter of 1/4" or less have 1/4" shanks.

Each spiral upcut bit has a maximum cutting depth. As the bit diameter increases, the maximum depth of cut also increases. Solid carbide bits are stiffer and generally allow a greater depth of cut. Choose a guide and bit combination to match the required depth.
